Joe and Dee Garnett
Joe and Dee Garnett are the hosts and facilitators of the Married Lovers Retreat, which they founded 20 years ago. In 2014, they were elected Family Ministry Leaders of the Lake Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and led the Family Ministries department at Shalem Seventh-day Adventist Church in Waukegan, Illinois, until 2022.
The Garnetts continue to inspire and support healthy marriages through their ministry. They also established a forum dedicated to promoting and strengthening marriages. Together, Joe and Dee are passionate about sharing their marriage ministry and developing programs that enrich and encourage couples attending the retreat each year.
“We’ve been married for over 37 years. We found that between children, work, school, taking care of the home and other responsibilities that we didn’t have enough time for each other.
We decided to plan a weekend getaway to spend time together. We thought some other couples could benefit from this ideas and invited several of our friends. The weekend was so invigorating, that we decided to continue to do this every year.
Every year, we are please to share this annual time of renewal with both old and new friends. We’re excited about planning the retreat and building on the concepts we’ve learned at past sessions.”
