About

Married Lovers Retreat

The Married Lovers Retreat (MLR) was started in 2005 by the Shalem Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Family Life department. What started out as a weekend getaway for a few couples has turned into an annual event that many couples look forward to attending. Since then, it has grown from several couples to over 50 with each year adding more.

The MLR program is designed to help promote healthy marriages and offers couples two solid days to focus exclusively on their marriage and the unique relationship that they share.

Promoting Healthy Marriages.

The MLR gives couples an opportunity to take time for a yearly fine-tuning of a good relationship, to renew and awaken a love that once burned bright, or repair a marriage that is ready to fall apart.

As the retreat continues to grow each year, the sessions still maintain a level of intimacy which provides couples with a comfortable environment to enjoy the retreat.

The Agenda

Each year the retreat sessions begin and end with prayer. While we pray we ask that each couple will allow God to work through them to transform their marriage.

The agenda is divided into four sessions. The first one beginning on Friday evening. Saturday there will be a morning session and later an afternoon session. Sunday is the final session ending in the afternoon.

Couples get to engage in a number of activities including but not limited to icebreakers, workshops, and on-on-one reflective conversations with their spouse. All while working on building better relationships with your spouse, and gaining new friendships.
